CMEDS Biomedical

CMEDS includes Biomedical Equipment for AHP Medical Benefits. The Biomedical program is part of the CMEDS program but has separate procedures as set out below.

At Home Program (AHP) Medical Benefits Role Vs. CMEDS Role

AHP Medical Benefits is responsible for approving Biomedical equipment loans through the CMEDS program.

CMEDS is responsible for delivering or sending approved Biomedical equipment loans through courier, , handling returned  Biomedical equipment, and processing approved repair requests from AHP Medical Benefits.

To request Biomedical equipment, please contact AHP Medical Benefits. CMEDS will only arrange for delivery of Biomedical equipment with directions from AHP Medical Benefits directly.

CMEDS Biomedical Request Process

Requests for CMEDS Biomedical equipment are to be sent to AHP Medical Benefits as normal. (the process and forms have not changed)

CMEDS Biomedical Repair Process

If your Biomedical equipment is not working, please contact CMEDS. The Biomedical program is operated out of HME Richmond, please call us at (604) 762-6784. You may also fill in a repair form at the link below and email to: CMEDSTech@hmebc.com.

CMEDS Biomedical Repair Request Form

CMEDS will review and then will request authorization from AHP Medical Benefits to send a replacement unit (if there is one available from the CMEDS recycling pool). CMEDS will arrange for the non-functioning unit to be returned. CMEDS will repair the equipment and put back into the pool. In the event a unit is not available from the recycling pool, AHP Medical Benefits will send a replacement unit. Please note: CMEDS can only replace equipment.  Biomedical repairs are not done in a client’s home for safety reasons.

Please note that the Biomedical program does not provide emergency services. Requests will be handled Monday–Friday from 8am-4:30pm. We are closed all statutory holidays and weekend service is not available.

CMEDS Biomedical Return Process

When a client no longer requires a piece of Biomedical equipment, please see the return process below:

1. If the client is in the Lower Mainland, the client or medical professional can return the equipment to HME at one of the following addresses:

2. If the client is unable to return the items to the store, please arrange for the equipment to be returned via courier. Fill in the CMEDS Equipment Return Form and submit to CMEDSTech@hmebc.com. CMEDS will arrange for a courier to pick up the equipment.
